  • See the spectacular granite tors within Evans Crown Nature Reserve.
  • Take a leisurely ride on the famed ZigZag Railway Steam Train.
  • Enjoy spectacular sunsets from the highest lookout in the Blue Mountains just a short drive from the centre of town at Hassans Walls Lookout.
  • Drive through the Gardens of Stone National Park and experience the largest enclosed valley (canyon) in the Southern Hemisphere or view Blackfellows Hands Reserve which was a meeting place for aborigine tribes.
  • Wollemi National Park is the largest wilderness area in New South Wales and the home of the famed Wollemi Pine from prehistoric times.
  • Take a walk through history while visiting the museums of Eskbank House, the State Mine Museum and the Small Arms Factory Museum. Also, not to be missed, Hartley Historic Site with its original courthouse, the Old Lithgow Pottery started in 1875 and the Blast Furnace (sole producer of iron in Australia 1906-1928).
  • Not to be forgotten, the Glow Worm Tunnel which was originally a rail tunnel now occupied by the Glow Worms.
  • Lake Lyell is wonderful for the water sport enthusiast. You can take a short drive to Lake Lyell for power boating, water skiing, fishing, swimming

Lithgow and its surrounds also boasts a number of galleries, craft and antique displays and walking trails. There are also a number of restaurants, hotels and clubs to choose from if you wish to eat out as well as four national chain supermarkets in town for those who choose to "cook-in".
